Sometime around the age of 12, I decided that radio was the career for me. I hounded my parents who
were very supportive in taking me around to many Los Angeles area radio stations for inpromptu tours of the facilities.
These visits helped me to better understand the business of radio and audio, plus it allowed me the opportunity to meet a
lot of nice people who were on-air talent and behind-the-scenes personnel.
After successful careers in retail , I finally got into radio in my early twenties, starting at KKOP-Redondo
Beach. From there, I went to KEZY in Anaheim, then up north to the San Francisco Bay area to manage an FM station, and
finally back down to Los Angeles/Orange County to start my own retail businesses.
Eventually, broadcasting beckoned me again, and I was hired as an 'audio assistant' on the production for
The Golden Girls....my first TV experience being part of a top rated NBC sitcom!
Since then, I have worked on numerous network sitcoms as a "sound recordist" presently working on two shows,
one for ABC and WB. With this experience, I am also able to continue my other career of teaching the very same subjects that
I do for a living professionally.
No matter what you do for a living, the key is to have "fun" in your work environment. Then, it
is no longer work...it becomes a passion and pleasure.
